Text Box: Honoring Saint Joseph is especially important in these difficult times. Families are undergoing trials, the unborn, elderly, handicapped and infirm are in danger, economic struggles are common and the needs of the Church are great. Saint Joseph is a powerful intercessor under his titles of Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of Text Box: Mary, and Patron of the Universal Church.

The members of the Institute of Saint Joseph keep a Novena to Saint Joseph each March in preparation for his feast. The Nazareth Community will have a Novena of Masses from March 11-19 for all the I Text Box: intentions sent to us. An enrollment form is on page four of this newsletter. Please fill it out and send it to us to have your intentions included.
Text Box: Long Live St. Joseph
Text Box: Lent: Time for Prayer
Text Box: In the Rule of Saint Benedict, we read: “The mode of a monk’s life ought at all times to favor that of Lenten observance. Since few, however, are capable of this we exhort every one in these days of Lent to guard their lives in all purity, and during this holy season to wash away every negligence of other times.”

Text Box: The Church enters into the season of Lent on February 25th this year. Pope Benedict has reminded us in his Lenten Message of the value of fasting as a strengthening of the spirit, especially by helping us to avoid sin, and as solidarity with the poor in order to be able to more readily share our resources with them. With the universal Church we keep these days of Text Box: prayer, penance and almsgiving together; there is something strengthening and comforting about this. Together we prepare for the great celebration of the Lord’s Paschal Triduum.
